The 2023 Burgundies are abundant—which is very good news for Burgundy drinkers—because the 2024s are painfully scarce thanks to mildew and other fallout from a complicated growing season. Many domaines lost as much as 80% of their red production. The whites fared better. But all that means is the work was harder, the quality in the best vignerons were very good to delicious, based on my experience with the always beautiful Chanterêves and Antoine Lienhardt. And what about the new kid on the block, Jean Marshall? Well, there I got to taste the 23s.
