Around the communal table with a swell bunch of people, this is what we drank last night at Chambers (food so good—is this the best restaurant in NYC? Some of us thing so). Though it was a leaf day, the wines showed their best feet forward. As sommelier Pascaline Lepeltier said, “The pressure was good, that’s more important.” The point of the evening was to share bottles that illustrated the stories from my five months based in Paris and Europe.

1st Flight: A beaut! Here are some observations. The theme? Alices’ Origin story.

2022 Marie Rocher ‘Tendresse’ Vin de France (Touraine)
Marie was my late publisher, Jean Paul Rocher's daughter--and the person who was responsible for bringing my first book, The Battle for Wine and Love (and then Le Vin Nu) to print. I watched her go from lost to found--making wine in the Loire. I couldn't be prouder.

+ I had this only in brut de cuve and then just before bottling in France this winter. Loved it then. Loved it now and completely thrilled
